The reigning Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight champion, Kamaru Usman on Wednesday paid a visit to his country home, Edo State, and promised to partner with the state government in discovering and nurturing young talents.
The Edo-Born fighter was received by the Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu at the Government House before he was taken on a tour of the facility at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, the state capital.
He promised to give back to the society that made him by being a role model to the younger generation and also partner with the Edo State Government on its sports development programmes.
The Deputy governor reiterated plans to rejig Sports which according to him has been lagging in the state with emphasis on school sports which will be in conjunction with the ministry of education.
Ultimate Fighting Championship’s Welterweight Champion, Kamaru Usman, also known as ‘the Nigerian Nightmare’, hails from Auchi, Edo State.
